Objectives and Organisational Structure

The Centre for the Study of Democracy and Culture, o.p.s. (Centrum pro studium demokracie a kultury, CDK) is an independent, educational and cultural organisation (think-tank) established in August 1993 in Brno. From January 2014 it exists in form of Public Benefit Organization.
CDK is founded on the work of earlier initiatives devoted to the development of independent activities and the publication of samizdat magazines before 1989.

Organisational structure

CDK was founded by Petr Fiala, Zdeněk Granát, Jiří Hanuš and František Mikš - they have the position of the fonuders of Public Benefit Organization. CDK is run by a Board of Governors and controlled by a Supervisory Board, the directos is the statutory authority of the organization.
CDK comprises two relatively independent yet cooperating institutes: the Institute for Politics and Culture (Institut pro politiku a kulturu, IPK) and the Institute for Christian Studies (Institut křesťanských studií, IKS). In addition to these two institutes, CDK also runs its own publishing house.
